Editorial:   Labor Unions are as American as "Mom and Apple Pie"

By J. Lowery, RLUO News Writer

DETROIT, MICHIGAN (RLUO) -  There are some in this nation who are spending millions of dollars to deny Nursing Home Workers across this country the right to the freedom of choice to form a union.  But they have forgotten our past:  Labor Unions are as American as "Mom and Apple pie!"

It's all about Money

Why would any individual try and prevent the exercise of that Democratic Freedom? Who is kidding whom?  It's all about money.  It's time we as a nation remembered the roots of our freedom which lay at the feet of American workers who push the wheelchair; bathe the frail and aged body and spirit; mop the floor; feed the helpless; and at any given moment have a vocation as a Nursing Home Worker who is the last living person to touch a soul before it leaves this earth. Yet we as a people see the individuals at the "top" making large sums of money yet the "employee family" suffer short-staffing, low wages, and declining benefits.

Let Freedom Ring

Do Nursing Home Workers need a Union? Let the Bell of Liberty ring a resounding "YES!"

Greed and its resulting arrogance have taken this nation onto the dangerous brink of disrespect for Democracy, it's Freedoms, and it's People.  If we lose our right to form a Union; if we lose any single Freedom; then which Freedom is next?
